About This Event

The Adomah Kidney Care Foundation is bringing its community health screening program to Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region of Ghana on August 8, 2025. This event is designed to reach individuals who may not have regular access to kidney health assessments.

Asante Bekwai holds special significance for the foundation, as it is where several patients we support call home, including Anita Brako, one of our most recognized cause beneficiaries. This personal connection drives our commitment to serving this community.

Event Highlights

  • Free health screenings — Blood pressure measurement, blood sugar testing, urinalysis, and BMI checks
  • Kidney disease education — Presentations on causes, symptoms, and prevention strategies
  • Nutritional guidance — Tips on kidney-friendly eating with local Ghanaian foods
  • Patient support information — Details about financial assistance for those in need of dialysis
  • Community dialogue — Open forum for questions about kidney health

Why Asante Bekwai?

The Ashanti Region has a high prevalence of hypertension and diabetes — two leading causes of kidney disease. Many residents in rural and semi-urban areas like Asante Bekwai lack regular access to specialized kidney care. By bringing free screenings to their doorstep, we can catch kidney problems early, when treatment is most effective and least costly.

This screening event is the first in a planned series of regular visits to the Asante Bekwai community, establishing an ongoing relationship between the foundation and local residents.
